Satan is at Work in Detroit
If this isn’t a surprise to you, you’re either a serious pessimist or already a member of the Metro South Church in the Trenton suburb of Detroit. The pastor of the church wants to drum up some enthusiasm for his church and increase his congregation, so he’s enlisted the aid of Satan to get the attention of the masses.
Satan says the church “sucks.”
We know this because there are ads to the effect signed by the devil himself. The church of Youth Pastor Adam Dorband is making Satan sick, according to the signs posted by the church. The outlandish advertising campaign is designed to “cut through the noise,” says Dorband. The church wants to reach out and get the attention of people. It seems to have done exactly that.
Dorband said Jesus “wants us to be creative and he wants us to … use whatever it takes to reach people.”
The pastor of the church, Pastor Jeremy Schossau, says the campaign is designed to be whimsical and shouldn’t upset anyone.
Sure. Tell that to Satan.
If I were a fallen angel punished for eternity in the fiery pits of hell, I might be a bit aggravated. If I happened upon a sign using my name as a promotion for a whimsical church advertisement, I might be irked. And while it’s great that we’re trying to reach out to others in a time and city where there is much trouble and lost hope, perhaps they should have left Satan out of it.
After all, that’s one bad guy I’d hate to piss off.
